We have definitely mastered the art of using Fologram with a menagerie of bending hardware, but back in Sydney in 2018 was one of the first times we experimented with the idea. We worked with Hank Haeussler’s excellent students in the UNSW CoDe program to produce a piece of furniture exhibited during the university’s open day. The students did a great job of capturing the project come together over two days and you can check it out in the videos on their blog post.
The videos are a good reference unpacking the process of rod bending and assembly in mixed reality and show how ad-hoc the whole process can be: from clamping benders to benches, to working in the sun, to creating a temporary base platform and adjusting parts with hose clamps on the fly.
