We collaborated with and participants from a short two day workshop to produce an installation for the old leather factory in Schorndorf, Germany. The structure consists of around 2500 uniquely positioned foam bricks and was glued together in a casual afternoon’s work. A short video documenting the project and showing a few details of the structure is on vimeo:
Working with holographic instructions for placing foam blocks could be extended to quickly rough out templates for set designs or large scale sculptures, and it’s a great way to introduce people to the potential of mixed reality fabrication. Since proving the approach with several of these foam brick prototypes (another larger scale structure was completed at USC) we’ve since collaborated with All Brick to work on permanent masonry structures.
