Aki Hamada Architects and Eri Sumitomo Architects have used Fologram in a collaboration together to create a piece of furniture made from natural timber and a chainsaw in Shibuya, Miyashita Park. The piece is titled ’ Torinosu’, and you can see more here.
The furniture is made from 6 naturally curved pieces of timber, which have very different form and character. Fabrication was operated in a semi-digitised way through 3D scanning, AR guided cutting and drilling by woodworkers. The project used AR templates to guide both the chainsaw cuts, as well as drill hole locations for the joints between parts.
