Installing Fologram for HoloLens

For access to features requiring research mode (depth scanning), you will need to install Fologram for HoloLens using App Installer. If you don’t need these features, you can use the Windows Store Beta Track as outlined in the instructions below.

Option 1: Windows Store Installation

Fologram for HoloLens on the Windows Store does not have access to research mode features. To install:
  1. Launch the Windows Store app and sign in if prompted.
  1. Tap on Fologram from the home page of the store, or search for Fologram in the search bar.
  1. Tap Install.

Option 2: Side-loading with App Installer

💡
Installing via App Installer allows research-mode features to be used, such as streaming Point Cloud data to Rhino and Grasshopper.
  1. Ensure developer mode is turned on for your headset in Settings > Updates and Security > For Developers
  1. On the HoloLens 2, scan and tap on this QR code to launch Edge and navigate to the download page (note: it may take a few seconds for Edge to launch)
  1. Tap on Download Fologram to download the Fologram app installer package.
  1. Once the download has completed, a small downloads window should appear in the top right corner of the Edge browser window. You will then either need to:
    1. Tap on Open file. This should launch app installer.
    2. If App Installer does not open (nothing happens), tap on the Fologram.appinstaller file, then tap the folder icon to open the Downloads folder. Tap on the Fologram.appinstaller file to unselect it, then tap it again to open it. In the window that appears, select App Installer as the file type and then tap Always. This will launch app installer.
  1. In App Installer, tap Install. You may need to then sign in with Iris or PIN. After signing in the install process will start automatically and the Fologram Beta app will launch.
  1. When prompted, grant permission for Eye Tracking, Camera, and Microphone permissions.

Having Issues with App Installer? The HoloLens may prompt you that you need to search for an app in the store to open the appinstaller file type, or simply say “something went wrong, could not launch file”. If you cannot associate the download with App Installer you may need to update the OS on your device or perform a hard reset. Contact support@fologram.com if you need assistance with this, or alternatively use the Windows Store method above
