Viewing models in mixed reality

Fologram uses app link codes to connect to realtime sessions and cloud hosted models

Livestreaming models from Rhino

Ensure your HoloLens or mobile device is turned on and has access the internet. Then follow these steps to start a Fologram session in Rhino and display a Connection code. Look at the QR code with your device and tap the play button when it appears on the code to launch Fologram and connect to the model.
ℹ️
You don’t need to launch Fologram before scanning the connection code. If Fologram is already running when you scan the connection code, you will see a button that says ‘Connect’ instead of the default QR code play button. Pressing this button will connect to the new session.

Viewing cloud hosted models

Cloud hosted models allow you to view geometry and change layer visibility in Fologram without requiring a live connection to Rhino and Grasshopper. Cloud hosted models are ideal for scenarios when task sequences or visualization experiences can be fully described using layer information only, and more complex UI or parametric interactions are not required.
To view a cloud hosted model, ensure your HoloLens or mobile device is turned on and has access to the internet. Follow these steps to publish a model to your Fologram model dashboard if you have not already done so. Visit app.fologram.com/models on your laptop, then click on a model card to display the app link code. Scan this code with your HoloLens or mobile device to download and view the model.
You can also navigate and load models from your dashboard using a web browser on your HoloLens or mobile device. When viewing the dashboard on the HoloLens or mobile, tapping on a model card will automatically launch Fologram rather than displaying the app link code.

Viewing cached models offline

Fologram caches all downloaded models to your device so that they can also be viewed later without any connection to the internet. Before going offline, visit app.fologram.com/models on your laptop and click on the model card that you would like to view to display the app link code. Click on the Print button to create a PDF of the code that can be printed off and used to load the model later. Then scan the app link code with your device and launch Fologram to ensure that you have downloaded the model to your device.
You can now scan the printed app link code with your device to launch Fologram and load the cached copy of this model.
