The Code-Bothy project was a joint effort between the Material Architecture Lab (MAL) of the Bartlett, UCL and Piercy&Company, a fabrication facility. The project was established to examine the possible future relationship between digital and manual construction and explore the concept of mixed reality using parametric modelling. The structure itself was hand-built using an AR headset and was a challenge even for a skilled bricklayer, demonstrating the potential of digital design and fabrication technology. By combining digital and manual craft, the project aims to find new ways of using traditional materials and also has implications for the construction industry as human-computer interfaces become more advanced.
