We collaborated with the UTAS Digital Fabrication lab and participants in a short workshop to build a 6.5m tower from CNC cut timber components. Because each part was designed to connect to neighbouring components with minimal tolerance, a holographic model was not required to fabricate the structure but was used to verify that individual chunks had been assembled correctly. This enabled us to significantly reduce fabrication time by eliminating the need for drawings and tedious screen-based checks, and avoid high-cost mistakes of assembling components upside down or in mirrored formations.
