Igor Pantic, Christoph Klemmt and Andrei Gheorghe have completed STYX, an installation fabricated with participants of the AA Visiting School at Die Angewandte in Vienna. To minimize fabrication time, the team used holographic templates to set out the position of each timber part in order to match the design model as closely as possible. This approach to fabricating structures from standardised parts lends itself well to efficient and precise holographic fabrication, because the consistency in part dimensions guarantees a certain level of precision during assembly. However joints need to be carefully designed to avoid introducing accumulative error into the structure.
